Ten years ago, Paragon Marketing Group began as a full service marketing company with plenty of ideas, a willingness to work, and some pretty lofty dreams.
Over the last decade, there have been exciting wins, painful mistakes, sleepless nights, and moments when we wondered if we were truly making a difference. Looking back, some of our most important lessons weren’t learned when everything was going smoothly. They came through the challenges, changes, and experiences we faced along the way.
Be Willing to Change
We’ve learned to watch trends and remain flexible because business and marketing never stop changing. We’ve certainly seen that over the last 18 to 24 months.
What worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. As a team, we have to be willing to adjust our strategies, learn new tools, and rethink the way we do things without abandoning the principles that define who we are.
AI is one of the latest examples. Rather than ignoring it or viewing it simply as a threat, we’ve made the decision to learn how to use it as a tool. It can help us work more efficiently and open up new possibilities, but it doesn’t replace the creativity, strategy, relationships, and human perspective that are at the heart of what we do.
Sometimes change also means taking a chance on where you believe you’re headed.
One of those moments came when we decided to move into a larger office. We wanted a space where our team could grow, but just as importantly, we wanted a place where we could comfortably meet with clients and collaborate together. At the time, we didn’t need all of the space, so there were definitely some nerves that came with making the leap and hoping we would grow into it. Looking back, it taught us that sometimes growth means investing in where you want to go before you’re completely there.
Never Assume You Have It All Figured Out
Ten years of experience doesn’t mean we have all the answers.
If anything, experience has taught us how important it is to keep listening and learning. Sometimes that also means admitting when we’re wrong, asking for help, or changing course.
Marketing changes. Technology changes. Businesses change. We have to keep learning right along with them.
Relationships Matter More Than Transactions
A client may initially come to us for a website, social media, advertising, video, or another marketing need. But the relationships that last are about much more than completing a project.
Long term success comes from becoming someone our clients trust. It means understanding their business, being there when they have a question or challenge, and caring about the outcome beyond simply checking a project off the list.
We’ve also learned that not every business relationship is necessarily the right one. There have been times when we’ve had to make the difficult decision to part ways with a client relationship that was no longer a good fit. Walking away from business is never easy, especially when you know you’ll have to put in the work to replace it. But those experiences have reinforced something important: the right relationships matter more than simply having more of them.
Ten Years Later
After 10 years, we’re proud of what Paragon Marketing Group has become, but we’re even more grateful for the people who helped us get here.
To every client who has trusted us with their business, thank you. Whether you’ve worked with us for one project or have been alongside us for years, you have been part of Paragon’s story.
And to every employee who has been part of Paragon Marketing Group over the last decade, thank you for the ideas, creativity, hard work, laughs, lessons, and contributions you brought with you. Each person has played a role in shaping the company we are today.
Ten years has taught us that success isn’t measured only by revenue or growth. It’s measured by the people we serve, the relationships we build, the lessons we carry forward, and the values we refuse to surrender.
We’re grateful for the first 10 years, and we’re excited to see what we’ll learn in the next 10.
